Jio in 2016 revolutionized India but now all the people who could buy jio have bought it so the growth of jio now became slow, the people who are buying jio are those who want to get rid of their operator and they are porting to jio but the people who are using feature phones with 2G/3G aren't able to upgrade to jio because if you want to upgrade to jio you need a good smartphone which has the support of VOLT and has 4G compatibility that's why a huge segment of India is still using feature phones with 2G and 3G and to solve this problem jio introduced jio phone in 2017, it was a massive hit and through that jio got some extra customers but they weren't potential customers of jio because they were not going to use jio data much because there are limitations in a feature phone, you can't use the internet in the full fledged way and after that Jio introduced jio Phone 2 which provided some more functionality to the user but it wasn't enough and Jio knew that. So, that's why they planned jio phone next and with that, they'll provide a smartphone that can run jio and at a very affordable price and Jio is patterned with Google for software phone, Google has earlier made Android Go and tried to make software for low-end devices that can't run on Android but it wasn't so successful. So now the vision of Jio and Google is similar in that both want to provide something with low-end devices and hence we are going to see Jio phone next with new software (made by Google) optimized for its hardware and with Jio's network and name + fame.
The price of Jio phone next is guessed to be ₹3000 and at this price the phone is providing a lot of very nice features like text to speech and a lot of cool Google features and a new camera app Camera Go by Google which will provide some features of Google Camera like HDR photography and they've included AR features that means it's integrated with Snapchat and they have a partnership with Facebook too so maybe we can see Facebook's apps like Instagram, Facebook, What's app preloaded in the phone the main motive of this much partnership is to keep the price of the phone ₹3000 or lower than that because a lot of people in In India are using 2G, Mukesh Ambani said we have to make India 2G free and Jio phone next could be a stepping stone for that.
If we talk about the design of the phone we know that it's plastic built and speakers and Camera at the back and some people are saying that it could come with a 12mp camera but the chances of it are very very low because implementing 12mp sensor at this price would be a very big deal, probably we're going to see 1.3 or 2mp camera in this phone. Everything will be revealed when it'll be launched on 10th September but it is confirmed that it will be a 4G phone.
Jio is also preparing for a 5G phone and we can also see Jio laptop, Jio tablet in the future in partnership with Qualcomm which we can potentially see in 2022 when jio will do its 5G rollout.
